• Are the rifugi warm?

  Yes — very.
  Rifugi are modern, well-heated, and properly insulated.
  There’s plenty of hot water, and many have comforts like a 2-, 3-, or even 4-star hotel.
  You’ll be warm, dry, and well looked after.

• Will I have to share a room?

  If you’re travelling solo — yes, expect to share.

  Rifugi sell beds, not rooms, so sharing comes with the territory.

  Couples usually get a private room, sometimes en suite depending on availability — but be prepared to share with other ski safari guests on some nights.

  That’s mountain life, and part of what makes it feel real.

• How is the weather in the Dolomites and how ‘snow sure’ is it?

  Very.
  The Dolomiti Superski area is a world leader in snow management.
  With 6,000 snow cannons, they cover 97% of 1,200 km of slopes with artificial snow when needed.
  320 snowcats groom every piste — every night.
  Bottom line? You’ll ski. Every day.

• When is the best time to go on a Dolomites Ski Safari?

  Mid-January or mid-March.
  Why?
  In January, the slopes are quiet, the snow is solid, and the rifugi are nearly empty.
  In March, you get longer days and great spring conditions — without the crowds.
  Perfect timing. Fewer people. Better skiing.

• Am I good enough?

  A Dolomites Ski Safari is about pace, not speed.
  Each trip has its own rhythm — and we match it to you.
  Before booking, we’ll ask about your ski ability and fitness.
  It’s not just how well you ski — it’s how long you can keep going.
  Stamina matters as much as skill.

• Am I fit enough?

  You’ll ski most of the day — often starting before the first lift and reaching your rifugio about an hour before closing.
  Want to keep skiing? You can.
  Each Ski Safari has a different pace — from the DOLCE (steady and relaxed) to the XXV (fast and full-on).

• How many people are in a ski safari group?

  We ski in small groups — no more than 7 guests, or 6 on the Specialissimo Safari.
  Small groups mean smoother days, better flow, and a pace that fits the team.

• How much cash do I need?

  Not much — but it’s good to have some.
  A typical mountain lunch (pasta, beer, coffee) costs around €20–€30.
  A bottle of wine in a rifugio starts at about €25.

• I’m vegetarian, vegan, or celiac — will I be OK in the rifugi?

  Yes — especially if you’re vegetarian.
  Rifugi offer plenty of meat-free options.
  If you’re vegan or celiac, just let us know — we’ll talk it through and plan ahead.
  Louise, one of our ski leaders, is a lifelong vegetarian — you’ll be in good hands.

• Do I have to ski off-piste?

  No.
  All Inspired ITALY Dolomites Ski Safaris are on-piste only.
  You’ll ski groomed slopes from start to finish — no off-piste required.

• Can I come as a solo skier?

  Absolutely.
  In fact, 40–60% of our guests come solo.
  You won’t be the only one — and you’ll be part of the group from day one.

• What happens to my luggage?

  Your main bag stays at the base hotel.
  You ski with a 20–25L Inspired ITALY backpack — just what you need for the journey.
  We give you the pack and a smart packing list.
  Yes — you really can fit six days of skiing into one pack. We’ve done it. Many times.

• What about helmets?

  As of November 2025, it is obligatory for all skiers to wear helmets.

• Can I do the Ski Safari on a snowboard?

  Not really.
  The Ski Safari is designed for skiers only.
  Mixing skiers and snowboarders just doesn’t work well on this kind of journey — different pace, different needs.
  For now, it’s skiers only.

• Which ski areas do we cover?

  Each itinerary is different, but you could ski through many of the 12 main Dolomiti Superski areas, including:

  Yes — but choose wisely.
  For the best experience, you’ll want all-mountain skis.
  Powder, race, or specialist skis won’t help here — and can actually make things harder.
  Stick with gear that’s built for varied terrain and long days.

• What is the transfer time from the airport?

  It depends on where you fly into:

  • Innsbruck – about 90 minutes

  • Verona – around 2 hours

  • Venice, Munich, Milan – about 4 hours

• What is the main language in the Dolomites? Do they speak English?

  It depends on the valley.
  Everyone speaks Italian, but in the northern areas, you’ll also hear German or Ladin as a first language.
  Most people speak English, especially in hotels and on the slopes — but not everyone.
  A smile and a few words of Italian go a long way!

• Why do you ask for my gender?

  It’s required by Dolomiti Superski for your ski pass ID.
  It also helps us with room planning, especially for solo travellers.
  We only ask for what’s needed — and we keep it private.

• What’s included in the price?

  All accommodation, ski guiding, lift passes, and most meals are included.
  We’ll send you a full breakdown before booking — no surprises.

• Do I need travel insurance?

  Yes — and it must include winter sports cover.
  Your policy should cover:

  • Medical care

  • Off-mountain evacuation

  • Trip cancellation

  • Third-party liability (required by law when skiing in Italy)

  It’s not just smart — it’s essential.

• What kind of fitness should I have?

  You don’t need to be a triathlete — but you should be comfortable skiing 6 hours a day, with breaks.
  Regular cardio and leg strength training go a long way.

• Can I rent equipment locally?

  There’s limited access to rifugi by road or lift, so non-skiers can’t join the Safari — but we’re happy to suggest nearby options for a parallel holiday.

• How far in advance should I book?

  Trips fill quickly — especially for peak weeks in January and March – with around 60% of places being sold in May/June.
  We recommend booking at least 3–6 months ahead to get your preferred dates.
