9 km from Assisi, the Castello Di Petrata has a spa and a restaurant serving Umbrian cuisine. But it is the setting that is the true delight. This is night 4 & 5 on the Our Umbria eBike Safari itinerary.
The site dates from 1340, and was originally fortress. The rustic finish such as the exposed brick, natural stone, wood-beamed ceilings really do add to the silence.
Twenty cozy guest bedrooms and suites come with free Wi-Fi. The breakfast buffet is set in a cave. In the evening it becomes the restaurant and wine cellar.
