Pace & Difficulty: Which Ski Safari is Best for You?

Posted in the 2027 Dolomites Ski Safari collection on 6th April 2026

A

typical Dolomites ski safari is:

Moderate Difficulty + Moderate Pace

This delivers full, enjoyable ski days with a comfortable and sustainable rhythm across the week.

But what does that really mean?

1. DIFFICULTY (How Much Skiing)

Difficulty is based on the total vertical skied each day and the terrain skied.

  • EASY → 4,000–6,000 m per day
Relaxed days, with shorter skiing time and minimal fatigue. No Blacks runs.
  • MODERATE → 6,000–8,000 m per day
Full ski days, with a satisfying amount of terrain covered. Some easier Black runs.
  • HARD → 8,000 m+ per day
Big days with high volume and increased physical demand. We always take the Black run!

2. PACE (How the Day Feels)

Pace describes the rhythm of the day, not the total amount of skiing.

  • STEADY - Frequent stops, time for photos and coffee, relaxed skiing throughout the day.
  • MODERATE - A steady flow with regular breaks and consistent movement.
  • FAST - Minimal stops, efficient lift use, and continuous skiing.

3. How DIFFICULTY and PACE Work Together

These two elements combine to shape your experience.

Example Combinations:

  • EASY + STEADY - A very relaxed holiday with plenty of time to enjoy the scenery.
  • MODERATE + MODERATE - A classic ski safari: full days at a comfortable, steady rhythm.
  • MODERATE + FAST -  The same amount of skiing, but with a more athletic feel and fewer stops.
  • HARD + MODERATE - Big ski days with controlled pacing—suited to strong skiers.
  • HARD + FAST - Maximum skiing with high intensity. Best for very fit and experienced guests.

4. Key Insight

A faster pace does not always mean more skiing.

For example: - 7,000 m at a slow pace can feel relaxed - 7,000 m at a fast pace can feel demanding.

The vertical stays the same—the experience changes.
